RE: TCORN’s perioperative Day in Austin

We are 10 days from meeting in Austin to accept the Governor’s

Proclamation. There is still time for you or any member in your chapter

to register for the event. Our agenda for the day is:

• Meeting at First Baptist Church of Austin starting at 8:30 AM

• Advocacy Education presented by Julie Davis, Director of Government

Affairs TNA. At 9 AM

• Pass out visit appointments with your senator and representative and

packets to leave with staffer during your visit. Discuss where and when

to meet for group pictures for you and your chapter to post on your

website and/ or face book pages.

• Leave church no later than 10:10 AM to head for scheduled meetings and

if you are representing your chapter the Governor’s office meeting is at

10:30 AM. Only one member from each Chapter is scheduled to meet with

Governor’s staff. See Beverly for confirmation. Her phone is

• Lunch is on your own.

• Meet up for debriefing at end of day. Time and place for debriefing

will be announced closer to the day of our event and after meetings with

staffers are established.

It cost $5 to register for the event. The money is being spent to cover

meeting room cost and coffee for our education meeting. You can go online

to TCORN.org and register.

I would love to see every chapter have at least one member attend this

event. Our focus is on introducing who perioperative nurses are and the

smoke evacuation issues and why we will be asking for a bill to be passed

in Texas.

Please mark your calendar for the 2020 Annual TCORN Conference to be held

on January 25, 2020 in San Antonio. More details of the conference will

be released next week.
